Riisfort ESG report 2023-2024 - Flipbook - Side 24
Health and Safety
At Riisfort, we prioritise health, safety and wellbeing to create a work environment in which everyone
feels safe, motivated and at ease. In the reporting year 2023/2024, we have not had any work-related
accidents or work-related fatalities. This reflects our focus on safety and our continuous efforts to
minimise risks in our workflows.
Our sickness absence rate is 1.56%, which we consider to be a healthy and satisfactory level. If longterm sick leave is included, the figure rises to 5.87%, but we still consider this evidence that our
employees are generally happy and comfortable in their work environment.
We Cycle to Work
In May, we participated in the Danish Cycling Association's
We Cycle to Work campaign. To promote health and
sustainable transportation, Riisfort paid for employee
participation. As many as 11 employees – or 22% of our
workforce – participated, collectively cycling over 4100
kilometres to and from work. The campaign helped
strengthen our sense of community and it brought
employees together across departments, creating a stronger
sense of cohesion within the organisation.
At Riisfort, we have some really killer cyclists in our team,
and they make a difference every day. One of them is our
Purchasing Manager Anders, who cycled 50 kilometres to
work each way – making for a total of almost 950 kilometres
over the course of the month. For Anders, his participation
was about showing that distance doesn't have to be a barrier
to cycling, as well as highlighting the benefits of cycling in
a way that can inspire those who are yet to hop on a bike.
At the same time, he also cites the competitive element
of the campaign as a great motivator, as it created extra
engagement.

Anders also points out that there are several colleagues
at Riisfort who cycle more regularly than him and inspire
through their mindset of ‘every day is a cycling day’. It is
precisely this dedication among our employees that makes
the campaign so special and which creates a positive cycling
culture at Riisfort.
Of course, there are challenges when cycling such long
distances – such as the weather, external meetings and the
logistics of transporting large items. But with good planning
and some support from the workplace, which offers good
shower and changing facilities as well as secure bike parking,
it becomes easier to fit cycling into the working day.
The campaign has not only strengthened the physical
health of the participants, but it has also given rise to some
important reflections on how small changes in everyday life
can make a difference – both for the environment and for the
community. It's clear that both Anders and his other cycling
colleagues have helped motivate and inspire greener and
healthier transportation habits among employees.
